Putting DSL Broadband Access into your Home
Did you know that Alarm systems can interfere with your FastAccess DSL connection, but more importantly, FastAccess DSL can interfere with the normal operation of your alarm? Here's a very helpful information file from Bellsouth.com
Do NOT place a filter on the alarm system or request filters from the alarm company. Instead, do the following:
- Contact your alarm company or emergency monitoring service and verify that the alarm is working properly.
- Turn the alarm off.
* NOTE: You may need to contact your alarm company or monitoring service to turn off the alarm.
- Install FastAccess DSL.
- Make sure your DSL connection is working properly. Troubleshoot any problems.
- Turn the alarm on.

- Make sure your computer is connected to the Internet.
- Contact the alarm company or monitoring service and request an alarm test.
- During the test, surf the Internet to increase the accuracy of the test.
- When the alarm test is successful and your computer remains connected, no further action is necessary.
- When the alarm test is successful, but your DSL is disconnected, do the following:
* Repeat this process to make sure the alarm system is the cause of the problem.
* Contact Your ISP to request that a technician install a Home Run in your home.
- When the alarm test is unsuccessful, contact BellSouth to request that a technician install a Home Run in your home.
